The Hoot Toque

I wanted to make something super cute for my super cute nephew and when I came across the Hoot Toque by Megan Grewal I knew it was the right choice. Kids grow super fast and tend to be super active so I chose to use a variety of Bernat acrylic yarns (worsted weight). I cast on for 12mos - 3yrs and started knitting it up last night.

It knit up really fast. The ear flaps were easier than I imagined (it was my first time doing them) and the iCord too. At first I was a bit nervous about the iCord but I found many informative videos on YouTube and it was a cinch! This is now my go-to hat for gifts for little ones.

On a high note, I wanted to crochet the eyes, only problem was - I never crocheted before in my LIFE! So one late night, and after many failed attempts, I learned how to do it!

Swirl Hat Love

Jewish New Year is fast approaching (and by fast, I mean like this Sunday) and so is winter! I knitted up this cute little hat for my favorite niece and will give it to her on the holidays. The pattern I used was called "Swirl Hat" and I made the 6mos - 12mos size.

I used Madelinetosh, Tosh DK in the colorway Molly Ringwald. It was my first time knitting with Madelinetosh and I am now a diehard fan. What a soft and squishy yarn! I really recommend this pattern! It knit up in under 3 hours and was super easy, I may crochet a big bow to tack onto it, but I'm still undecided... will update you if I do!

*Update: I did add the bow! I made a seed stitch rectangle and bunched it together - I totally love it!!

Little Sunshine Cardigan

♪ The most wonderful thing about babies is babies are wonderful things, their tops are made out of rubber, their bottoms are made out of springs, they're bouncy, pouncy.... ♪ Oh, wait - that might be Tigger's. Babies are still wonderful - you get my point.

After casting on my sweater and realizing how much I loved sweater knitting, I knew I wanted to try another one but this time, something smaller. Having the most adorable baby girl in the family made my choice very easy; the Little Sunshine Cardigan. I chose the size for a 1yr old and added a heart for good measure - I hope it fits!

Will update when it's finished!

A couple rows in

Almost at the full length!

Now, to add some sleeves...

The "Effortless" Cardigan

My first sweater! It was a challenge I was ready to take on, I browsed Ravelry for a few days before deciding on the Effortless Cardigan ,there was something about the simplicity of it that drew me in; the name effortless helped a lot in my decision too!

May 30, 2012, that was the day I cast on the. Here we are, almost four months later and I still haven't finished. The hot summer months have put my knitting fingers to sleep and I could not force myself to pick them back up, there's something about knitting in the heat that just doesn't feel right.

It's finally cooling down in Montreal and I'm ready to finish this sweater once and for all! I'm going to post a few pictures of my work in progress and I will update you guys (hopefully, within a week or two) with the finished results.

Mostly work on the main body and a bit on the left sleeve

Houston, we have a sleeve!

Two sleeves make for warm arms!

After I finished up the ribbing on the bottom

Started ribbing on the side panels (As of now I have 1 1/2 done).

Rosebud Socks, Finally A Completed Pair

Hello, my name is Ashleybobbi, and I have second sock syndrome.

Yes, it's a real disease, a disease that's plagued me with many mismatched hand knit socks. Having said that, I swore to myself that I would complete a pair of knit socks. I recently picked up Wendy D. Johnson's Toe-Up Socks for Every Body and fell in love with the Rosebud Socks pattern. This was going to be my first official PAIR of socks. I finished my first sock in three days and I set down my needles. Itching to cast on a new project, I looked to my sponsor for support (my toy poodle Bentley, of course!). I could do it, just cast on and go from there... after much procrastination I did it, and I finished it, and it felt great. I can now wear two of the same hand-knit socks with pride.

Finished socks at my desk @ work (where I should probably be working, not knitting...shhh!)

Knitting on my balcony, enjoying the early days of summer.

Keep Calm & Cast On... Until next time,
